Honesdale for the Holidays

Posted

Honesdale, the historic town that is the birthplace of the nation’s railroad system and the beginning point of the Delaware and Hudson Canal, will host several events on November 23 and 24 in preparation for the upcoming holiday celebrations.

Organized by the Greater Honesdale Partnership, the celebration will extol the virtues of the borough, and will put on display the varied attractions: from a colorful Santa’s parade on Friday, November 23 at 6 p.m., ongoing music along Main Street, carriage rides in a traditional horse-drawn buggy, a model trains display, the Wayne County Historical Society open house and, above all, excellent retail shops where residents will be served by shop owners who say they provide individual care, as distinct from big box stores.

For a full list of stores, visit www.VisitHonesdalepa.com and click on “Shop Honesdale” or stop by one of the shops in town and pick up a brochure, complete with a colorful map, list of events and historic walking tours.
