Sullivan County Manager David Fanslau issued the following statement: "Sullivan County has arranged to place dumpsters at the following locations, in conjunction with the Town governments to collect Storm Debris associated with Hurricane Sandy. FEMA will reimburse the County for these costs.

(T) Mamakating Town Barn - 2948 Rt. 209 (DPW garage)

(T) Tusten Town Highway Barn

(T) Lumberland Town Highway Barn

(T) Callicoon Town Highway Barn

(T) Bethel Town Transfer Station

(T) Neversink Town Transfer Station

(T) Liberty Town Highway Barn

(T) Fallsburg Town Sewer Plant

As additional locations are arranged, an announcement will be made.

Sullivan County had requested a major disaster declaration for both Public Assistance (PA) for County and Municipal governments, and Individual Assistance (IA) for private property, from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. We are awaiting action by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and President Barack Obama on Sullivan County's request. Senator Chuck Schumer and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand Wednesday sent a letter to FEMA supporting Sullivan County's request.

Senator John Bonacic has also sent a letter Wednesday to Governor Cuomo and Jerome Hauer, Commissioner of the New York State Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Services, requesting them to request a FEMA declaration for Sullivan County. Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther spoke with the Governor's Office in Albany supporting Sullivan County's request.

I want to thank our federal and state elected representatives in their assistance with cutting "red tape" for Sullivan County's citizenry. Once Sullivan County is included in a declaration as a major disaster as a result of Hurricane Sandy, information will be publicized on how residents and businesses may contact FEMA to register for assistance."
