Another step for the Apollo site

There has been another step forward in the on-again, off-again progress of the redevelopment of the Apollo Mall site. The Monticello Village board has voted to agree to annex a piece of land adjacent to the mall site, a strip along Rose Valley Road, into the village. The property is important to the plans of Butch Resnick, the Rock Hill developer chosen to handle the project, and the move will make it easier for him to handle the needed paperwork, as he will be able to deal just with the Village of Monticello, rather than the village and the Town of Thompson.

The Sullivan County Legislature has voted to transfer both the title of the property and negotiations regarding the development to the Sullivan County Funding Corporation in September. A meeting between Resnick and the county is scheduled to take place this week to agree on terms for the development. Resnick’s attorney, Steve Vegliante, said the main terms had been agreed upon, and that at this point it’s a matter of preparing the documents.
