150th Wayne County Fair: as fun and informational as ever!
August 7, 2012 —
Jim Watson Jr. (Dunn’s Sawmill and Logging) and Brittany Schwartz (Timber Wolf Logging) power their way to first place during the Jack and Jill Crosscut competition in which a team including one male and one female make one complete cut in a 12-inch diameter pine log. The win occurred on August 4 during the 29th Woodsmen’s Competition at the Wayne County Fair in Honesdale.
The competition is sponsored by the Wayne Conservation District (WCD) and Wayne County Fair Board. It tests the skills of men and women in categories such as chainsawing, tree felling, crosscut saw and axe throwing. To promote safety and support the region’s wood industry, WCD regularly offers Soren Erikksson’s Game of Logging safety training program. Contact WCD’s Paul Reining at 570/253-0930 or firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
The fair continued through August 11 with its classic mix of educational exhibits, 4-H livestock and shows, rides and games, entertainment, food, music and more. Visit www.waynecountyfair.com for details.
