Sometime in the early morning hours of July 16, a vandal—or perhaps more than one—knocked out a number of the spindles attached to the railings of the gazebo in Veterans Park, and knoked over one of the stone benches. A New York State trooper was summoned to take a report of the damage.
The incident comes in the wake of several incidents of vandalism in the hamlet. Over the past couple of months, vandals, at multiple times, have ripped flowers and plants from the plantings in the park and on Main Street.
Additionally, a flagpole across from town hall was damaged last week, and the flag was left on the ground.
A member of Narrowsburg Beautification Group may be recommending to the Tusten Town Board that it consider installing cameras in the area to discourage this sort of activity, which detracts from the picturesque appearance of the hamlet.
