Hawley website worth more than toilet paper

At its monthly meeting on June 13, the Hawley Borough Council approved financing for a new website for the borough. In the discussion leading up to the vote, council member Mary Sanders argued the cost for the website would be no more than a year’s supply of toilet paper and paper towels for the borough building, and won over the members of the council by stating, “A website’s got to be worth more than toilet paper!”

Among other topics discussed were plans for an upcoming parade in honor of veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan war, to be held by the American Legion on Church St. Approximately 40 soldiers will be in attendance on August 18, and a picnic will take place afterward.

On June 27, there will be a bicycle sale in the parking area of the bandstand. Safety checks will also be performed on any bicycles brought in on this date. A bicycle rodeo is scheduled for August 17.
