Good flower news, and bad

The good news is that the community was very generous and the large ceramic planters that had been stolen, with plants and all, from Veterans’ Park on May 20 have been replaced.

Susan Klikus, a member of Narrowsburg Beautification Committee, which works with Sullivan Renaissance to help keep the hamlet looking good, said there was an outpouring of support to replace the pots. “There were people offering to hand-make the new pots; Honesdale Agway was very generous with discounts, and Callicoon Farm and Garden was very generous with donating new soil.” She wanted to thank those who have helped.

Now the bad news: the flower thief or thieves are at it again. Sometime around June 15, someone stole some of the geraniums that had been planted in front of the stone honoring the nation’s veterans. Also, the thieves made off with about half of the plants that had been planted in the new large pots.

Klikus is asking that residents keep their eyes open, and if they see anything to call her at 570/729-7558.
