Beautification pots stolen from Veterans Park

Posted

The glazed ceramic pots were large, and had been planted with pansies for the past month. But on the evening of May 20, or early the next morning, someone stole the pots, flowers, dirt and all, and left a feeling of disappointment with the Narrowsburg Beautification Group, a group of volunteers of many ages who have planted trees, shrubs, perennials and flowers in Narrowsburg since 2001, with funding from grants through Sullivan Renaissance.

Susan Klikus, a volunteer with the group, said the theft puts a damper on the current project, which is to beautify the Veteran’s Park, located at the end of Main Street in Narrowsburg on the former bridge abutment just north of the current interstate bridge.

The pots are worth $93 each, plus the cost of the planting medium and flowers. The New York State Police have been notified.

If anyone has information about the theft, contact the police at 845/252-3212.

Residents who might be interested it donating for the replacements of the pots may call Klikus at 845/729-7557.
