UDC announces 2012 awards

The Upper Delaware Council, Inc. (UDC) will honor those that have enhanced the quality of life or protected the resources of the Upper Delaware River Valley at its 24th annual awards ceremony on Earth Day, Sunday, April 22, at The Carriage House located at 3351 NYS Route 97.

A cash bar reception with appetizers begins at 3 p.m. with dinner at 4 p.m. U.S. Congresswoman Nan Hayworth (NY-19th District) will deliver a keynote address prior to the presentation of awards.

The winners are U.S. Congressman Maurice D. Hinchey, Jr., NY-22nd District (Distinguished Service Award); Peter Van Slyke, Deposit, NY (Robin M. Daniels Memorial Lifesaving Award); Common Waters Fund, The Pinchot Institute for Conservation (Partnership Award); Philip D. Chase, Port Jervis, NY (Community Service Award); Town of Tusten, NY (Outstanding Community Achievement Award); Kittatinny Canoes (Recreation Achievement Award); Tusten Historical Society (Cultural Achievement Award); William E. Douglass, Oregon Township, PA (Special Recognition Awards); and Anne Willard, Town of Fremont, NY (Special Recognition Award); and Chairperson Larry H. Richardson, Town of Cochecton, NY (Oaken Gavel Award).
