Day of Action challenges corporate personhood

SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY — The MoveOn Sullivan NY Council is organizing a Day of Action on Saturday, January 21 to seek the community’s support for an amendment to the United States Constitution. It invites those who wish to participate to contact moveon sullivanny@gmail.com.

January 21 is the two-year anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision, which substantially loosened the rules on corporate election spending, based on an interpretation of the 14th amendment as endowing corporations with free speech protections. The January 21 Day of Action is intended to support an amendment to the Constitution to establish that corporations are not people, and do not have the same rights as human beings.
