Marino: Jobless report ‘disheartening’
December 7, 2011 —
WASHINGTON, DC — Rep. Tom Marino, PA-10, on December 2 said the decline in the national unemployment rate is welcome news but expressed concern about the hidden message behind the report. Marino acknowledged the national unemployment rate had dropped to 8.6 percent in November but said the mounting despair among Americans is most troubling.
“More than 300,000 people stopped looking for a job last month,” Marino said. “To think that so many Americans have given up hope is absolutely disheartening. We owe our citizens much more than that.”
Marino said the key to job creation is to create an environment that makes it more suitable for entrepreneurs and small business owners to expand.
