WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Maurice Hinchey (D-NY) has announced that the Monticello Housing Authority has been awarded a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development grant to help individuals and families access better employment opportunities, obtain drivers licenses and transportation for work, increase financial literacy, reduce or eliminate the need for welfare assistance and make progress toward achieving economic independence and housing self-sufficiency. The $38,789 grant is provided through the Public and Indian Housing Family Self-Sufficiency (PH-FSS) program.

The grant will support continued services for 25-30 families at the housing authority’s facility in the Village of Monticello.
