PennEnvironment, a statewide, citizen-based environmental advocacy organization has scheduled training to equip Pennsylvanians with the skills and information to “protect Pennsylvania's environment and communities from gas drilling.”

“After a few years of gas drilling in the Marcellus Shale, we've seen accidents and blowouts poison local streams and drinking water supplies; our state forests leased out as a cash cow with no regard for their natural beauty and air emissions from gas wells that exacerbate the smog pollution problems we already face here in Pennsylvania,” said director David Masur.

The Marcellus Shale Citizen Organizer Training will be held at the University of Scranton, Brennan Hall, Room 500, Scranton, PA on November 16, from 6-9 p.m. The training is part of a statewide project launched to teach 1,000 Pennsylvanians how to effectively engage with decision makers, generate coverage in the media and hold elected officials accountable.
