SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY — The River Reporter team headed to the New York Press Association conference and trade show held at the Gideon Putnam Resort on April 7 and 8. This conference is held every year and is a chance for community newspapers from all over New York State to gather and learn from professionals in the business. Sessions are held for the newsrooms, publishers, advertising, technology and design.

An awards ceremony was also held at this conference. Newspapers can submit entries from throughout the year and a panel of judges chooses first, second and third place winners. Categories range from news stories, to photos, to advertising. This year, The River Reporter received three awards. They are: Honorable Mention for Graphic Illustration, Second Place for Best Advertising Campaign and first place for Innovative Ad Project, which was an activities book designed for waiting rooms.
