PLEASANT MOUNT, PA — Some 110 cows were killed at a farm in Mount Pleasant last month at the Jonas Family Cold Spring Farm, and about 33 cows were saved. On February 3, about 700 members of the community turned out to an auction in Wayne County to benefit the Jonas family. The event raised some $56,700.
The Jonas family was humbled and grateful for a community that came out to support them. Kayla Hack, a teacher at Honesdale School and her students helped to arrange the event. Hack thanked Brian Non, who served as auctioneer, the Pleasant Mount Emergency Service, the Wayne County 4-H groups and all of the generous donors of food and prizes.
A GoFundme page has also been established (www.gofundme.com/help-cold-spring-farm-jonas-family) to assist the Jonas Family, and by February 6, $10,517 had been pledged on a goal of $9,000.
