REGION — Since the beginning of 2018, Growing Older Together’s (GOT) trained and screened volunteers have been performing services for members and fulfilling GOT’s mission: to provide Wayne County, PA and western Sullivan County, NY residents aged 60 and older both the practical means and the social connections to live independently in their homes.
GOT describes its vision this way: “Hand in Hand... Linking Lives,” and encourages its members with this reminder: “If you need something, just ask.” Volunteers respond to member requests for transportation, technology support, friendly visits and other day-to-day needs like grocery shopping, convenience services, light home maintenance and assistance with chores. These services enable individuals to remain in their homes and stay connected to their community as they age. GOT also hosts social and educational activities throughout the year. Annual dues entitle members to request and access services and to attend all programs.
A not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization and a member of the Village-to-Village Network (vtvnetwork.org), GOT is modeled on more than 230 similar organizations currently operating nationwide, some for over 15 years.
For information about GOT or to become a member and/or volunteer, visit got.clubexpress.com or call 570-630-0509.
