As I sit here writing my column it is snowing out. I just want to thank the Cochecton town crew for keeping our roads clear and safe.

In the month of February on Wednesday the 14th, Thursday the 15th and Tuesday the 20th, hours for collecting taxes will be 5:30 to 7 p.m. The Cochecton Youth Commission still has room on the bus to go see the New York Knicks on March 11; for more information call Sue at 845/8660853.

Save the Date: On Saturday, March 17, there will be a St. Patrick’s Dinner at Holy Cross Church at 2 p.m.; make reservations by March 10. Mail your check to James Henke at PO Box 215, Callicoon, NY 12723 with the number of tickets desired. Tickets cost $15 for adults, $10 for children seven to 15. Children six and under will be admitted free.

Roycroft’s Roar Tricky Tray will be held on Saturday, March 10 at the Delaware Youth Center, Callicoon. It is a benefit for Dottie Champion Roycroft. Doors open at 1 p.m., calling at 2:30 p.m. There will be special raffles, a 50/50 and refreshments available for purchase. Admission costs $5; additional tickets cost $5 or three for $10. Specials tables cost $2 each or six for $10; tickets for the Grand Special Table cost $3 each or four for $10; 50/50 tickets cost $1 each or an arm’s length for $10. The special admission package, a $15 value, costs $10, and includes admission, one 50/50, tickets for three special raffles and one Grand Special Raffle. Dottie is battling leukemia and is in need of a bone-marrow transplant, she and her husband have triplets and live in Cochecton. If you would like to make a donation to the tricky tray or to the family, please give Penny Ackerman a call at 845/701-2065.

Another Cochecton resident has passed away. Sadly, Rose (Kraack) Sheppard, a longtime resident of the area, passed away on Saturday, January 27, surrounded by her family. My thoughts and prayers go out to her children and her family. God bless. Rose was 90 years old.

Keep smiling and have a great week, and email me at leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have news. You can always check me out at riverreporter.com in Community Living.
