It’s time to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and a Happy New Year. I hope all will enjoy the spirit of the season and spend plenty of time with family and friends, renew the old traditions and create a few more. All at once, in one final week of 2016, all the major holidays will be over. It’s officially time to get used to the idea that it will be 2017 and winter.

The great thing about living in a four-season climate is that there is always something to look forward to with each new season. We have already had numerous snowy days, and no doubt more are on the way. This should signal the time to change or check the tires on your car and get the skis, snow shoes and sleds out of storage.

Don’t forget the ice skates. It may be a bit premature for skating to take place at The Narrowsburg Union, but work has begun to once again construct an ice skating rink for everyone to enjoy. Keep your eye out and watch for the opening. Remember, not everyone in the world has the privilege to have an ice skating rink in their town, so take advantage of the wonderful things found in Narrowsburg.

For those of you that prefer indoor activities in the winter, the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance has plenty planned for you. The Winter Salon Series includes six varied programs ranging from award-winning documentary films, to live jazz piano, to a Shakespearean musical performance and more. The performances are free and will warm your Saturday afternoons with a program followed by an audience discussion. The series begins in mid-January and ends March 18. That should bring us right up to spring.

Oh, how time marches onward. However, for the present, Happy Holidays!
