Sullivan County casinos

Charlie Barbuti

Our citizens are disappointed and angry and are demanding some action at the state level to refocus this process on its original goal: upstate gaming economic development. The only way this goal can be reached is by placing these casinos outside of Orange County.*

I am urging the citizens of upstate New York to send a letter and be heard. We will not take this sitting down. Write to: New York State Gaming Commission, Contracts Office, One Broadway Center, Schenectady, NY 12301-7500, Attention: Gail P. Thorpe, Supervisor of Contract Administration or email gail.thorpe@gaming.ny.gov

(5) Four upstate casinos can boost economic development, create thousands of well-paying jobs and provide added revenue to the state, and (6) The upstate tourism industry constitutes a critical component of our state’s economic infrastructure and that four upstate casinos will attract non-New York residents and bring downstate New Yorkers to upstate.]
