Difficult appointment, easy choice

On October 8, 2014 the Town of Callicoon lost a dear friend and town clerk of 23 years, Janet Brahm, who lost her courageous battle with cancer. To all who knew her, Janet was a warm, friendly, hard-working individual who absolutely loved her job and was recognized by fellow town clerks as one of the best in New York State.

At the November 10 town board meeting, the board unanimously voted to appoint Kim Klein to succeed Janet as the new town clerk/tax collector. Kim, who has done an outstanding job for many years as the town’s justice court clerk, has also served as deputy town clerk for several years working closely with Janet. Most recently, during Janet’s illness, Kim assumed a majority of the work load of the town clerk’s office while still attending to the duties of the justice court clerk and the Youngsville Water District clerk.

Kim, like Janet, works extremely hard, is well-liked by all and is quick to offer a welcoming smile to everyone who enters Town Hall. She has exhibited all the professional and personal qualities required for the office of town clerk, and we wish her much success in this very busy office of public service.

While we still mourn Janet’s loss, Kim Klein was an easy choice for this difficult appointment.

Thomas R. Bose, Supervisor

Town of Callicoon, NY
