Narrowsburg School bidders correct the record

Posted

We thank you all for your continued encouragement and support for our plan for the Narrowsburg School and the nearby ball field lot.

We would like to correct recent press misstatements.

First, at the July 10, 2014 regular meeting of the Sullivan West School Board, we did not ask the board to “revisit its decision.” We did ask the board to adopt a resolution expressing their commitment to negotiate with us if Ms. Buto withdraws from negotiations, or if negotiations with Ms. Buto do not result in a signed contract within the contingency period, or if the contingency period expires without a contract executed, or for any other reason. The board did not respond to this request at the meeting. We have since submitted this same request in writing to each of the board members, the school administration, and to the board’s attorney, John Miller of Bond, Schoeneck & King in Albany, New York.

Second, we are not members of NOSRU [Narrowsburg Organization for Responsible School Use], although we support many of the organization’s objectives.

Based on recently received information about the bidding process, we are evaluating our options appropriate to the circumstances.

We remain committed to the win-win situation, wherein the D&A treatment facility can be created within the Town of Tusten, but in a more appropriate setting, the school can be otherwise utilized in a manner that positively impacts its residents and businesses, and the town’s tax base is stable and growing.
