Support for Ken Hilton in Town of Callicoon

Posted

As the recent Sullivan West School District Superintendent, Ken Hilton has demonstrated the ability to actively listen, and then work with people—a crucial requirement for town board success. Ken is now part of a campaign team that has the drive, imagination, and integrity needed to help reverse the slow economic stagnation of our area. Instead of one-shot magic economic bullets, Ken and his running mates understand that we need an economic reversal that starts from the bottom up.

As a college and university professor of economics for nearly 45 years (and a commercial fisherman for five years), I confess that I developed no great fondness for administrators. But there were important exceptions, and they stood out like beacons in a stormy night at sea. Ken Hilton is one of those exceptional administrators who were able to actually cooperate with all their constituents to seek workable solutions in a challenging environment. As a consequence, my grandson, now in the first grade at Sullivan West, has more of the opportunities he deserves to build a sound educational base.

Ken has demonstrated his commitment to a brighter economic future for all our citizens through his volunteer service on the board of BOCES, and his active participation in JEMS (Jeffersonville Enhances Main Street). Recently he has also been meeting with a newly formed group of village residents called Revitalizing Jeffersonville. I urge readers to support Ken Hilton as a member of a new Town of Callicoon Board that is committed to working hard to bring prosperity back to our town.
