Town of Callicoon Democratic slate cited for their skills

Posted

I was delighted to read about the slate of Democratic candidates for the November 5 election in the Town of Callicoon. The three candidates are a team with business and administrative skills, all of whom have proven themselves over the years. Each of the candidates is committed to listening to the concerns of others, and has demonstrated respect for those with differing opinions. Their election to local government will be a positive step forward for our town.

The business and administrative experiences of these three candidates include:

Van Morrow, town board candidate, started two successful businesses from scratch. He’s the former co-owner of the Towne Crier newspaper and active member of several valuable and visible civic organizations.

Ken Hilton, town board candidate, as superintendent of Sullivan West Central School District, helped guide staff and students to their 2013 ranking in US News & World Report as “Top School” in our region. Now retired, Ken maintains active roles in educational and civic organizations.

Nancy Lee, town supervisor candidate, served previous terms on the town board (four years) and planning board (five years). Nancy has experience in administration and budgeting, both for schools and for Town of Callicoon. She, too, has successfully operated several small businesses.

I know these candidates, and their credentials are exemplary. I am confident that they will listen to the people of the town and work cooperatively with others to bring about the changes that people in the Town of Callicoon are seeking.
