Neighbors save a home

April 5, 2012

Kevin and I would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to the volunteers of the Lava Fire Department, Narrowsburg Fire Department and Welcome Lake Fire Department, who responded to a brush fire at our house on March 26. If not for their quick and professional response, we might have lost our home. The speed and precision of their response was amazing. They immediately controlled a fire that, due to the high winds, was spreading quickly. We would also like to publicly thank Rocco DeGori, Tom Coacci Sr. and Tom Coacci Jr. and the other people who stopped when they saw the fire. If not for them, we definitely would have lost our home. They, number one, alerted me to the fact that there was a fire, and number two, got hoses hooked up and started watering down areas to protect the house and woodshed and then worked beside the firemen when they arrived.

I know I am leaving out some names, but I was, quite frankly, in shock, so I apologize to whomever I have not named. But to all of you, I say thank you. We are blessed to live in a community that looks out for and cares for one another.
