It’s encouraging to see Supervisor Dan Sturm of Bethel acknowledge the very real debate over the legal definition of ‘home rule.’ Lumberland seems satisfied with shouting down the messenger and hoping for the best.
With a true conversation within the town—a conversation that is inclusive of diverse talents and opinions—Bethel may provide real, non-zealoted, non-fanatical leadership on this important issue, which has been missing thus far.
Those who shout loudest and most often are not always the best advocates for meaningful ideas.
