Stella was one heck of a storm. I got over 30 inches of snow. I went out to shovel, and when I came back in, the lights went out. I decided to get under the covers and take a nap; when I woke up two hours later, I could not get out my front door. The snow was so high, I had to ram the door with my shoulder to get it open. The next day my brother came and plowed me out, and I called American Electric to order a generator. When the power goes out, I want it to come right back on.

The town clerk Hollye Schulman would like me to get the word out that the highway crew for the Town of Cochecton does not take care of county and state roads. She has been getting lots of phone calls with complaints. Kevin and his men take care of the towns roads, and I think they are doing a great job. Did you know that it is a state law that you should not push snow from your driveway onto the road? You can be fined up to $1,000 if you do so, not to mention that it’s dangerous.

I got a phone call over the weekend from Tom Bonanza and he would like everyone to know that he and his wife Stella are married 43 years on March 23. Tom and Stella have been together for over 46 years. Happy Anniversary, lots of love and happiness.

The Cochecton Youth Commission has set a tentative date of March 31 to attend the movies. More information to follow.

I guess the elephant is not going out on the lake this year. The weather was too warm. Hopefully he will be out there next year.

Due to snow, the CRMC Grover Hermann Auxiliary meeting was rescheduled to next Saturday, March 25 at 1  :30 p.m. For more information call 845/932-8487.

Cochecton Democrat meetings are the third Monday of the month, but president Daisy Smith has cancelled the meeting for March 20, so the first meeting will be April 16.

Cochecton Republicans meet the first Monday of the month. Monday, April 3 will be their first meeting of the year. The major topic is the November election. Open positions are supervisor, two-year term; two town justices, four-year terms; town clerk, four-year term; highway superintendent, two-year term; town council, four-year term; and tax collector, two-year term.

If you want to be a part of your town, come out to a meeting and support your party. New members are always welcomed.

Have a great week and email leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have news.
