Levine canned from finance chair

Decides not to seek re-election

MONTICELLO -- The running political battle that Richard Levine (D-6) and Legislative chair Rusty Pomeroy (D-3) have waged over the past year came to a head on May 24 with Pomeroy's removal of the finance committee chair.

On the following day Levine announced that he would not seek re-election, but he denies that his decision not to run had anything to do with Pomeroy's demotion decision. He said that in fact that his first hearing of the letter's content came in a press inquiry about it.

Levine's political commentary on WVOS radio has been an ongoing flashpoint between Levine and his colleagues, to the point where Levine admitted its broadcast day was changed from Thursday, when the Legislature meets and often responded immediately to Levine, to a safer Friday.
