      FLOYD WILLLIAM BOYD JR.

      ELDRED -- Floyd William "Bill" Boyd Jr. of Eldred, a self-employed painting contractor and lifelong area resident, died Thursday, May 20, 1999, at home. He was 73.

      Son of Floyd William and Helen Kalbfus Boyd, he was born December 7, 1925, in Eldred.

      He was a Merchant Marine in World War II; was a mason as well as a member of the Eldred United Methodist Church; the Highland Lake Fire Department; the Boyd Society; Highland Senior Citizens; and the German-American Society of Tri-State.

      Survivors include his wife, Sigrid Fuerst Boyd, at home; a daughter, Winifred J. Boyd of Long Island; two sisters, JanithVogt of Eldred and Betty Strenglein of Naples, FL; a cousin, Gladys Gross of Matamoras, PA; a niece and two nephews.

      Services were held at the Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home in Barryville. The Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiated. Burial was in Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.

      ANNA BOZZELLA

      NARROWSBURG -- Anna Bozzella of Narrowsburg, a homemaker and lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, May 18, 1999, in Ellen Memorial Health Care Center in Honesdale, PA. She was 92.

      Daughter of William and Caroline Schneider Bowers, she was born May 22, 1906, in Beaver Brook. She was the widow of Peter Bozzella.

      Survivors include a grandson, Francis Wyss Jr. of Narrowsburg.

      Services were held in St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Narrowsburg. Burial was in Glen Cove Cemetery in Narrowsburg.

      Memorial contributions may be made to Tusten Volunteer Ambulance Corps or St. Paul's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, both of Narrowsburg.

      JAMES P. CLARK

      NARROWSBURG and WEST BABYLON -- James P. Clark of Narrowsburg and West Babylon, retired from the New York Police Department, died Wednesday, May 5, 1999. He was 79.

      Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Sussi Clark; two daughters, Lorraine Zaccari of Narrowsburg and Margaret Kushmock of West Babylon; a son, James P. III of Warner Robbins, Georgia; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edward and Ronald; and two sisters, Josephine Holmberg and Eileen Goehring.

      PAUL HENRY ECKBRETH

      TAFTON -- Paul Henry (Louis) Eckbreth of Tafton, PA, a retired general foreman for Production Planning, Curtis-Wright Corp. and a 25-year area resident, died Wednesday, May 19, 1999, at Twin Cedars Assisted Living Center in Shohola, PA. He was 89.

      Son of the late Elizabeth G. Wolfram Eckbreth and John Henry Eckbreth, he was born in Pittsburgh, PA. He was the widower of Dorothy M. Hofmann Eckbreth.

      He was a member of St. John Neumann/Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society.

      Survivors include a son, Dr. Alan and wife, Barbara, of Glastonbury, CT; a granddaughter, Kelly McVey; a grandson, Todd Eckbreth; and a great-granddaughter, Katherine McVey.

      A funeral Mass was offered at St. John Neumann Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph J. Adonizio, pastor of St. John Neumann/Good Shepherd Church, officiated. Burial was in Queen of Peace Cemetery in Hawley, PA.

      JACQUELYNN J. EDWARDS

      LEW BEACH -- Jacquelynn J. Edwards of Lew Beach, a waitress at the Rockland Home in Roscoe and a lifelong area resident, died Monday, May 17, 1999, at home. She was 49.

      Daughter of Leonia DeWitt Kuttner and the late Frank Kuttner, she was born November 24, 1949, in Liberty.

      She was a member of the Willowemoc Baptist Church.

      Survivors include her mother of Lew Beach; her husband, Dan Edwards of Livingston Manor; three daughters, Lisa D. Darbee of Roscoe, Chelsea Carlson of Livingston Manor, and Brea Edwards at home; three grandchildren, Justeen, Ethan and Spencer; three sisters, Dorothy Barbuti of Deland, FL, Mary Rampe of Livingston Manor and Stephanie Brown of Sauquoit; a brother, Frank Kuttner of Livingston Manor; nieces and nephews.

      Services were held at the Willowemoc Baptist Church in Willowemoc. The Rev. William Lamb officiated. Burial was in the Lew Beach Cemetery.

      GEORGE GOBIASKY

      CODY, WY -- George Gobiasky of Cody, WY, formerly of Cochecton and Lake Huntington, a former employee of the Department of Public Works in Sullivan County, died on Thursday, May 6, 1999, at Billings, MT, Deconess Medical Center, of lung cancer. He was 69.

      Son of the late John Martin Gobiasky and Stephanie Gobiasky, he was born April 26, 1930, in Brooklyn.

      Survivors include two sisters, Rose Gobiasky and Clara Santangelo of Tucson, AZ; a brother, John Jr. of Tucson, AZ; four nephews, John Gobiasky of Wyoming, Robert Laneont of Rhode Island, Joseph Catalano of Florida, and John Catalano of Long Island, NY; two nieces, Barbara Trial of Brooklyn and Michelle Honig of San Diego, CA; nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Eileen Gobiasky of Wyoming and Blanche Gobiasky of Tucson, AZ.

      He was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and William, and a sister, Anna Laneont.

      A Mass of Resurrection was held followed by cremation. Burial will be held at a later date.

      JACK LINN

      MONTICELLO -- Jack Linn of Monticello, a retired auto parts salesman and a longtime area resident, died Monday, May 10, 1999, at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. He was 81.

      Son of the late Harry and Sarah Sand Linn, he was born January 25, 1918, in Brooklyn.

      He was a World War II Veteran.

      Survivors include two daughters, Andrea Foley of Arkansas and Connie Happ of Long Island; and a sister, Dorothy Pearce of Cranbury, NJ.

      Graveside services and burial were held at the Beth David Cemetery in Elmont. Rabbi Lester Polonsky officiated.

      ELLA McKEEL

      HAWLEY -- Ella McKeel of Hawley, PA, a housewife and longtime area resident, died Sunday, May 16, 1999, at home. She was 70.

      Daughter of the late Edwin and Lydia Goodman Tyler, she was born in Honesdale, PA. She was the widow of Wilbur McKeel.

      She was active in charity groups including the Hawley Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

      Survivors include two sons, Charles E. of Georgia and Richard L. of North Carolina; two daughters, Patricia A. of Hawley and Ellen L. Bramlett of Georgia; two brothers, Donald Tyler of Varden and David Tyler of Beach Lake, PA; and her mother-in-law, Anna Frazee of Hawley.

      A memorial service was held at the Hawley United Methodist Church. The Rev. Martin L. Cox officiated. Cremation took place at the Salem Crematory in Archbald, PA.

      Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

      HENRY J. MILLER SR.

      HAWLEY -- Henry J. Miller Sr. of Woodloch Springs in Hawley, PA, a retired brewer for Anheuser-Busch Brewery and a seven-year area resident, died Saturday, May 22, at home. He was 75.

      Son of the late William and Anna Sieffert Miller, he was born in Brooklyn.

      He was a member of Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Hawley. He served in the US Army during World War II in the 355th Infantry Division and served in both the Asiatic Pacific and European theaters. He also participated in the famous "Red Ball Express," a European operation to resupply General Patton's third army.

      Survivors include his wife, Lillian Miller, at home; two daughters, Arleen Lovejoy of Maspeth, NY, and Sharon Clouse of Shohola, PA; a son, Henry Jr. of Basking Ridge, NJ; two grandsons; nieces and nephews.

      A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Queen of Peace Church in Hawley. The Rev. William B. Healey, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Queen of Peace Cemetery in Hawley.

      JOHN E. SONN

      HONESDALE -- John E. Sonn of Honesdale, PA, a coordinator at the Keystone Residence in Scranton, PA, died Friday, May 21, 1999, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was 30.

      Son of Robert and Margaret Oliver Sonn of Bethlehem, PA, he was born in Dunmore.

      He was a graduate of Wilkes University. He was an active member of the Honesdale WMCA and enjoyed weightlifting.

      Survivors include his wife, Cyndy D. Gaskill Sonn, at home; a daughter, Alyssa, at home; a brother David of Philadelphia; two sisters, Teresa Smollinger of Bethlehem and Elizabeth Hawkins of Paupack, PA; nieces and nephews.

      Services were held at the Hessling Funeral Home in Honesdale. Burial was in the Indian Orchard Cemetery in Texas Township.

      ERNEST RUSSELL WILLIAMS, SR.

      HONESDALE -- Ernest Russell Williams, Sr. of Honesdale, PA, a retired truck driver and former employee of George Litts Construction in Stroudsburg, died Wednesday, May 19, 1999, at the Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. He was 79.

      Son of the late Alex and Anna Rachael Ward Williams, he was born in Uswick, Wayne County. He was the widower of Betty Ella Meyers Williams.

      He was an Army Veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater; assisted at the Human Resource Center in Beach Lake, PA; and was a member of the VFW Honesdale Post #531.

      Survivors include a son, Ernest R. Jr. of Honesdale; two daughters, Rose Rosler of Honesdale and Betty "Red" Wells of Kimbles, PA; three sisters, Stella Miller and Idella Rollison, both of Hawley, and Gladys Brink of Honesdale; three grandchildren, Christopher Williams, Shawn Rosler and Dean Wells; two great-grandchildren, Cara and Cory Wells; nieces and nephews.

      Services were held at the Hessling Funeral Home in Honesdale. The Rev. Mary Jo Cliff, pastor of the Bethany Presbyterian Church, officiated. Burial was in the Indian Orchard Cemetery in Texas Township.

      LENA WOODS

      LIVINGSTON MANOR -- Lena Woods of Livingston Manor, a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, May 19, 1999, in Community General Hospital in Harris. She was 86.

      Daughter of Henry and Flora Knapp Woods, she was born February 1, 1913, in Livingston Manor.

      She was a self-sufficient farmer; drove a school bus for the Livingston Manor School District for 32 years; and was a past member of the Livingston Manor Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

      Survivors include several generations of nieces and nephews.

      Services were held at the Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home in Livingston Manor. The Rev. Dr. John Forrest officiated. Burial was in Orchard Street Cemetery in Livingston Manor.

      Memorial contributions may be made to the Livingston Manor Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
