With this issue, the 1999 River Reporter Sports Intern Program makes
its debut. The team of seven students and three staff members will provide
a view of sports in the WSL league. The group’s goal is publish to highlights
of weekly games with pictures, collectively produce a column called
"Outrageous Sports Quote of the Week," and publish the school
stats every other week.
Here are short bios on each member of the team.

Allison Costa, a 17-year-old junior attending Tri-Valley Central
School plays for the varsity girls’ soccer team and the ski team.
Her favorite and best subjects are photography, Spanish, and English.

| Tracy Denman (not pictured) attends Livingston Manor
Central School. She is interested in journalism as a career. She
like to write, enjoys photography and wants to use the student intern
program to improve her skills. |

Kristen Erlwein goes to Jeff-Youngsville school and
is 15 years old. She plays softball, basketball, and soccer. "I
really enjoy this intern program because it is a very good learning
experience. We do many hands-on activities that put you in control.
This is a responsibility that some of us thought we couldn’t handle
but we can." |
| Beth Meyer attends Narrowsburg Central School. She
plays varsity soccer, softball, and basketball and also participates
in chorus and band. Beth is secretary of her sophomore class and
has been involved in both drama club and DVO theatre productions.
Like the other interns, she is looking forward to learning more
about newspapers and how they are run. To contact Beth with information

Liz Mirra is a junior attending Liberty High School.
She is on the basketball, soccer and track team. Liz is interested
in journalism as a career and is looking forward to the experience
as an intern in preparation for the future. |
| Zachary Stuart-Pontier is a freshman at Honesdale
High School. He plays baseball and is in the school’s concert and
jazz band. The student editor of Amphibian, the Journal for Kids
by Kids, he is helping with the sports intern program. |

Harry Swinnes is a senior at Narrowsburg Central School
He is a computer graphics designer with experience in digital photography
and web page design. |
| Chris Conroy (TRR staff) is a 1998 graduate of Rochester
Institute of Technology (RIT). A town of Bethel resident, he is
a Monticello High School Class of 1993 graduate. He is the webmaster
of riverreporter.com and will design and maintain the intern work
on the web. |

Andrew Dantzler (TRR staff) majored in art in high
school, where he first held a camera. After serving six years as
combat photographer in the United States Marine Corps, he studied
at the Germain School of Photography and studied underwater photo-graphy
at The Florida Institute of Technology. A freelance photo-grapher,
he is the Vice President of the Delaware-Hudson Photo-grapher’s
Society |
| Laurie Stuart (TRR staff) discovered the Upper Delaware
River Valley as a camp counselor for Camp Speers-Eljabar YMCA. She
trained and guided teenaged campers down the Delaware River on overnight
canoe trips. "Working with teenagers is one of my favorite
things to do. It’s great fun for me to help these young adults set
and achieve well-defined goals and find undiscovered resources and
talents." |

Each student has a support person within the school. The group meets
on scheduled Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at The River Reporter
office on Main Street, Narrowsburg. Any students interested in this
