LILLIAN BUDDENHAGEN FRYKHOLM
Lillian Buddenhagen Frykholm died August 3, 2010 at the Avoca Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Avoca, IA. She was 89.
Lillian was born October 29, 1920 in Callicoon, NY to Herman and Edna (Krantz) Buddenhagen.
She attended Buffalo State Teachers College and earned her Masters at Columbia University. She lived in Williston Park, NY while teaching in the Roslyn School District. She and husband Clarence retired to Sanford, NC and several years after Clarence passed on, Lillian relocated to Neola, IA.
She is survived by daughters Nancy Tornquist and husband Jack of Parker, CO and Carol Jensen and husband Dale of Neola; grandchildren Kyle Jensen and wife Jill, Ryan Jensen, Janel Tornquist Klintobe and husband Brandon, Jason Tornquist and wife Brittany; great-grandchildren; and nieces.
Lillian was predeceased by her brother, Harvey Buddenhagen of Callicoon, NY.
Lillian will be buried in Jeffersonville, NY. Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church of Neola, IA.
MELVIN R. HILL
Melvin R. Hill passed on August 21, 2010, at Wayne Woodlands after a long battle with Parkinson Disease at the age of 85.
Born July 14, 1925, he was the son of the late Melvin G. Hill and Edith G. Adams of Lookout, PA.
Melvin was a graduate of Damascus High School, Gettysburg College and East Stroudsburg College for Graduate Studies. After college he managed the Arrow Yale Laundry in Baltimore, MD, and married Jane Heilman. He was a history teacher in Maryland for seven years and also taught history at Hancock Central School, NY for 5 years. Melvin co-owned and managed Hillcrest Thoroughbred Farm in Pleasant Mount, PA. He followed in the footsteps of his maternal grandfather William D. Adams breeding, training and racing horses with his then wife Roberta Hill.
Melvin was one of the heirs to the Duck Harbor Lumber and Chemical Company and Hills Sawmill, founded by his great-grandfather Senator Joel G. Hill. Melvin served as president of the lumber company for 10 years. He was a past director and life member of the Equinunk Historical Society and was most recently associated with the inception of Twin Spruce Lodge in 1988.
Melvin is survived by his children, Suzanne and her husband James Schneider of Lakewood, PA; Myra S. Hill of Ocala, FL, Adam and his wife Trisha Hill of Lookout, PA; grandchildren Daniel Hazen, Caitlin Sampson, Hunter and Summer Hill. Interment will be at Lookout Cemetery in Lookout.
ANN KREKUN
Ann Krekun, a longtime area resident, passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 28, 2010, at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 67.
Ann was the daughter of the late Juro and Teresa Alapic Milunic and was born on June 20, 1943 in Croatia.
She was a member of St. Josephs Church in Mongaup Valley and was a retired hairdresser at the Concord Hotel in Kiamesha Lake, NY.
Ann is survived by her husband of 46 years, Krsto Krekun, at home; her daughters, Dr. Susan Krekun,MD of Philadelphia, PA and Sonja Krekun of Millbrook, NY; her sister-in-law, Natale Milunic of Florida; a granddaughter, Julia Castaldi; and a close family friend, Jennie Casagrande of Philadelphia. She was predeceased by her brother, Matthew Milunic.
Friends may call at Ramsays Funeral Home, 3534 State Rte. 55, Kauneonga Lake on Thursday, September 2, from 5 to 9 pm.
Funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 3, at St. Josephs Church in Mongaup Valley, NY, at 10 am, with The Rev. John Tran officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Bethel, NY.

GEORGE JOSEPH PROCAK
George Joseph Procak of White Lake, NY died peacefully at the Catskill Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 surrounded by his family. He was 90.
George was born in Catasaqua, PA on May 5, 1920 to the late Michael and Mary Skripek Procak. He enlisted in the US Army before Pearl Harbor in 1941. He married Patricia Egan of Newburgh, NY in June 1943 and was sent overseas as a B-17 pilot in November 1943. On January 11, 1944 he was shot down over Germany, captured and held as a prisoner of war. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
After the war he returned to a career in commercial art on Madison Avenue, where his advertising campaigns were awarded a Clio, the industrys equivalent of an Oscar.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 67 years, Patricia Egan Procak, at home; daughters Francie and Ted Noyes of Boulder, CO, Tina and Wood Tyler of Greenfield, MA and Kate and Paul Douglas of Sparta, NJ; sisters Catherine MacAdam of Camp Hill, PA, Mary Kush of Catasaqua, PA and Ann Gillespie of Ocean Pines, MD; a brother, Joseph Procak of Pennsburgh, PA; nine grandchildren: Tara Berry of Franklin, MA, Becca Soller of Port Washington, NY, Michael Noyes of Boulder, CO, Matt Douglas of Long Beach, CA, Rafe Bartholemew of NYC, Diana Noyes of Washington, DC, Paul Larkin and Kimberly Larkin of Westminster, CO and Jonathan Douglas of Saratoga Springs, NY; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Delong of Catasaqua, PA and daughters Patricia Bartholemew of NYC and Betsy Larkin of Westminster, CO.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, September 2, at 10 am at St. Anthonys Church in Yulan, NY. Rev. Anthony Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Bethel, NY.

BEULAH M. SOLLER
Beulah M. Soller died on August 26, 2010 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, PA.
She was the daughter of the late George and Margaret Slater Soler.
She is survived by sister Alma McLay of Terrance,CA; niece Mary Kunkeli of Barryville, NY; niece Ethel Simonson of VA; and niece and nephew Derek and Alma McLay of California.
In 1941 she went to work for GE in Bridgeport, CT. She retired in 1980 and returned to Narrowsburg, NY to care for her mother, who was ill.
She belonged to Quarter Century Club of GE, the Ladies Auxiliary of Lava as president, Tusten Seniors Group, St. Pauls Church and Tusten Settlement.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, August 29 at 2 pm at the Rasmussen Funeral Home in Narrowsburg. Rev. Phyllis Haynes officiated.
Christian burial was in Glen Cove Cemetery, Narrowsburg.
