Wally Lake Fest a first-time success
HAWLEY, PA A first ever multi-faceted festival kicked off last weekend celebrating Lake Wallenpaupack and the abundant arts, music, theatre and recreational opportunities available in the Hawley area. Depicted above are Dick Briden, left, Rolf Moeller and Barbara Briden, members of the Wallenpaupack Historical Society (WHS), who posed with the queen-sized, triple Irish chain quilt crafted by Briden and other members of Friends with a Heart, a local group that contributes a hand-stitched quilt to WHS for its annual raffle. Other booths featured kites, pottery, photography and more, displayed at the Wallenpaupack Visitors Center, with a view of the lake in the background. Raffle tickets can still be purchased on weekends at the Lake Region IGA, where volunteers staff a table, or by contacting WHS at 570/226-8980. The drawing will be held on November 17. WHS meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 1 pm at the PPL Environmental Learning Center. The public is welcome. Visit www.wallenpaupackhistorical.org for more information.
