Wanted: duck herders

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — The JEMS Sullivan Renaissance volunteer group is looking for additional duck herders, one net holder and additional volunteers on the day of the JEMS Duck Race, Jeff Fest Day, Saturday, September 18 at 1 pm. There will be activities all day in Jeffersonville, and the Mill Pond to Schadt memorial bridge area will be crowded that day with cheering duck fans and photographers. Call 845/482-3731.

This year the JEMS have 12 “pokey duck” awards for the slowest ducks to win gift certificates to merchants in Jeffersonville, and you need not be present to win. The first place duck wins $300, second-place $200, and third-place $100. Tickets can be purchased at at Especially U, Magnifique Salon, The Janice Center, C & M Kennel, Jack and Doris Costello, Dawn and Pete Erlwein, Tara Brey, Catherine Scott and Randy Harris.

The donations benefit community improvements, the Sullivan West fitness/nature trail and the athletic fields at the Sullivan West elementary school.
