HAZEL PATRICIA BERTHOLF
Hazel Patricia Bertholf of Liberty, NY entered into eternal rest at home on Saturday, July 24, 2010. She was 83.
Born on April 15, 1927 in Penzance, Cornwall, England, she was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Simmon-Lavers.
Hazel met her husband Raymond H. Bertholf while he was stationed in Penzance during World War II. They were married on February 13, 1944. After the war, she traveled on a troop ship to New York City, and she and her husband lived in Divine Corners for 33 years before Raymond passed away. She chose to stay at home to raise their three children, then worked at the Sullivan County Department of Motor Vehicles and later as an administrator at CVI. She enjoyed sewing, reading, golf, lunch with friends, traveling and spending time with family and her beloved pet CoCo. She volunteered on the Sullivan County Community College Foundation Scholarship Gala Committee and at Sullivan Renaissance events. She was a communicant of St. Peters Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children, Sandra Gerry and husband Alan of Liberty, John Bertholf and wife Joyce of Morriston, FL, Gene Bertholf and wife Debbie of Loch Sheldrake; grandchildren Adam Gerry and fiancée Ashley Drury, Shawn Bertholf and wife Allison, Shannon Woodard and husband Nathan, Matthew Bertholf, Trevor Bertholf; five great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Leo Bertholf and wife Alice of Deland, FL; sister-in-law Ruth Bertholf of Hurleyville; brother-in-law, Jack Dawe and sister-in-law, Joan Lavers, both of England; and many nieces and nephews.
Hazel was predeceased by brothers William, Charles, Victor and Jack; and sisters Stella and Joyce.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Peters Catholic Church, Liberty, on Tuesday, July 27 with Monsignor Edward Straub officiating. Interment was at the Cemetery of the Immaculate Conception Church in Woodbourne, NY.

DAVID F. CURRERI
David F. Curreri passed away on July 17, 2010. He was born on July 31, 1983 in Honesdale, PA.
David graduated from Sullivan West at Narrowsburg HS and went on to attend and graduate from OCCC and SUNY Cortland. He was 26 years young.
David is the youngest son of Joseph and Dawn J. Curreri of Narrowsburg, NY. He was married to the love of his life, Jodi (Fredenburg) Curreri of Cochecton, NY on May 1, 2010. In addition to his wife and his parents, he is survived by his brothers Joseph J. and James P. Curreri and their wives Carolyn and Brenda of Beach Lake, PA; six nieces and nephews, Hailey, David, Alexis, Isabella, Joseph and Alexander; grandparents Joseph and Laura Curreri of Beach Lake and James Lorper of Narrowsburg; and several aunts, uncles and cousins, and many friends.
He is predeceased by his grandmother, Frances Lorper.
David was employed by The Center for Discovery, Hurleyville Campus, as a skills trainer and was previously employed at Pecks Market, Narrowsburg, and as a substitute teacher and coach at Sullivan West High School.
As a friend wrote, David loved history, music, sports and most of all his family. He loved the idea of greatness. What I mean when I say greatness is he didnt care for one-hit wonders, the latest trends or fads, or for people who were fake and not true to themselves. He always surrounded himself with the best of everything, including friends, family and loved ones. He was an avid Mets fan.
Visitation was at Rasmussen Funeral Home, Narrowsburg, on Monday, July 26 and Tuesday, July 27. Funeral services followed at Rasmussens Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 27.

MARIANNE KUBENIK
Marianne Kubenik of Kenoza Lake, NY passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at home. She was 56.
She is survived by her parents, Henry and Anna Kubenik, who cared for her all her life; brothers Henry Kubenik and wife Elizabeth and Eric Kubenik and wife Christine; sisters Anna Kubenik Niemann and Beatrice Kubenik Erlwein and husband Gary; several nieces and nephews; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
She is predeceased by her brother, John Kubenik.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, July 24 at St. Georges Catholic Church in Jeffersonville, NY.
Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Youngsville.

HAROLD G. PUERSCHNER
Harold G. Puerschner of Kenoza Lake, NY, a retired welder for the City of New York Sanitation Department, died Monday, July 26, 2010 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY. He was 86.
The son of the late George and Louise Wenz Puerschner, he was born in New York City on November 25, 1923.
He was the widower of Marion B. Mueller Puerschner, who passed away July 15, 2008.
Harold served as a fire policeman for the Kenoza Lake Fire Company for many years and was an honorary member of the Cherokee Hunting Club in Bethel, NY. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WWII.
He is survived by daughter Theresa M. Torres of Kenoza Lake; son Paul A. Puerschner of Kenoza Lake; grandchildren Andrew Torres and his wife Ashley of Jeffersonville and William Puerschner of Gainesville, FL; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sisters Marie Becker and Joan Enger; and by brothers Edmund and John Puerschner.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 29 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville. Burial will be in Kenoza Lake Cemetery, Kenoza Lake. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Judes Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
MARIA PODOLAK
Maria Podolak of Glen Spey, NY and a longtime resident of the area, died Monday, July 26, 2010 at home. She was 80.
She was born February 5, 1930 in Zolotnyk, Ukraine, the daughter of the late Tomas and Anna Petriwnyk Olyjnik, and married Petro Podolak 64 years ago on February 22, 1946 in Germany. She was a member of St. Volodymyrs Ukrainian Catholic Church, Glen Spey.
Surviving are husband Petro Podolak at home; daughters Ann Kurylo and husband George of Glen Cove, NY, Orysia Bransky and husband Tom of Carmel, NY, Daria Kelly and husband Tom of Plainview, NY and Lesa Laurence and husband Greg of East Meadow, NY; son Roman Podolak and wife Nadia of Floral Park, NY; brothers Walter and Alex, sisters Jeannie, Olga and Orysia; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by sisters Stephanie and Lena.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2010 with a 10:00 a.m. Liturgy Mass in St. Andrews Ukrainian Catholic Church, Sarah Wells Trail, Hamptonburgh, NY.
Burial will be at Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Hamptonburgh, NY.
NORLEENE MARY STILL
Norleene Nolly Mary Still of Jeffersonville, NY died peacefully after a long battle with cancer at home on Sunday, July 25, 2010. She was 85.
She was born Norleene Mary McDonald in Mound City, MO in 1925. She moved to New York City with her mother, Theo, and sister during WWII. She became a nurse, a wife, and a mother, and moved to Long Island, where she became the first female insurance agent for MetLife. Earlier, she sang with big bands such as the Paul White Orchestra, church choirs and opera companies, and shared her love of music with her children.
She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church of North Branch, NY. Her porch was always available to watch the birds and butterflies, have a cup of coffee and a good discussion. She was an amazing cook, always interested and interesting, full of life and love, a gracious and generous hostess, a loving, caring mother and a fiercely loyal friend. She will be remembered and missed.
Nolly is survived by daughters Karen and Sally Wilson; sons David Wilson and Dr. Wesley F. King; grandchildren Justine, Heather, Tobias, Sara Lynn, Tedi, Caitlin, Eliza, Olivia, and Jake; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will host an informal memorial gathering at her home on Tuesday, August 3rd, beginning at 3 p.m. Nolly asked that people honor her by planting a special plant or tree. In addition, a memorial fund for plantings at the family farmstead will be established.
