Praise for Wayne prison

HONESDALE, PA — The Wayne County Correctional Facility received a high rating after an inspection by the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections (DOC). The three-day inspection found the facility 100 percent in compliance with minimum standards for local adult detention facilities.

The staff of the facility appeared with the three county commissioners at the county meeting on July 22.

Jeffrey Beard of the DOC sent a letter to commissioner Anthony Herzog, which said that the accomplishment was especially noteworthy because of recent changes to the law. Beard said the changes required a strong “focus” for compliance, and the staff had handled the changes well.
