WAYNE COUNTY, PA This is the weekend for the Wayne County Arts Alliances (WCAA) Eighth Annual Open Studio Tour, a wonderful opportunity to meet Wayne Countys artists in their working environments while enjoying a midsummers country ramble. There are a variety of mediums represented on the tour this year, including folk art, photography, print work, pottery, rustic furniture, fabric art, painting, sculpture and woodcarving. Twenty-two artists will be participating, including Daniel Brinkerhoff, Linda Cobb, Tara Edmonds, Chip Forelli, Lindsay Barrett George, Heide Kwestel, Heide Kwestel von Borgwardt and Yanni Glykokokalos. Several of them will be offering on-site educational presentations in conjunction with this event, allowing participants to experience first-hand the inner-workings of an art studio.
To participate, all you have to do is pick up a map showing the locations of the studios on the tour. You can start anywhere and visit any one of the venues in the order that suits you best, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day. If you are not sure where to start, visit the Studio Tour Headquarters, at The Hanson Gallery & Decorium, where you can view artworks from each tour artist and learn additional information about the artists. Volunteers can help you plan your route and provide driving directions.
The Open Studio Tour began eight years ago as means of celebrating the arts in Wayne County. It was organized by a handful of local artists that were looking to share their time and talents with the community. This collaboration led to the birth of the WCAA, so the tour is a special time of celebration for the organization.
The brochure can downloaded from waynecountyartsalliance.org . Brochures and maps can also be found at The Hanson Gallery and Decorium and at locations throughout Wayne County.
