Remaking Broadway in Monticello

MONTICELLO, NYWhen you drive down Broadway through Monticello, the county seat and the largest village in Sullivan County, its hard to imagine how the cratered and war-torn looking street will ever come to resemble an attractive village thoroughfare. But, supporters say, that will soon be the case.
According to the NY Department of Transportation (DOT), the design for the makeover project began in 1998, in part to address safety issues and the numerous accidents that occurred on the street, that were caused to some degree by left-hand turns into parking lots across four lanes of traffic into various businesses.

Criticism of Fluhr and Hoeper continues

SHOHOLA, PAGeorge Fluhr Jr. is surrounded by opponents. The chairman of the Shohola Township board of supervisors stunned residents a few months ago by firing Nelia Wall and her husband Don Wall without much explanation. Since then, things have not been very peaceful for the beleaguered supervisor and his associate supervisor Greg Hoeper.

Study screams for local ice cream
Made in Sullivan may boost milk prices

MONTICELLO, NYSullivan County officials had hoped to breathe new life into the sinking local dairy industry by opening a creamery that could make use of local milk in the production of specially branded ice creams, cheeses and organic milk. That might happen, but theres a long way to go.
