Francis Ford Cupola or My Secret Life

A neighbor has a cupola on her one-story house. For years I have walked past it and thought I would like a cupola for my shed. The shed that used to sit tucked behind five hemlock trees in my side yard now sits close to a tall spruce tree near the driveway. The flood of ’06 took it there and we had neither the will nor the way to put it back. Over time, I have tried to make the shed look like it belongs where it is. I planted junipers and foxglove on the street side. I plan to replace the windows. Really, I do. The roof dips a bit mid-beam. A perfect place for a cupola, I think.

Play me the music

As I made my way to the Forestburgh Playhouse ( fbplayhouse.org ) on Wednesday night, I couldn’t help but think “How many times can I see ‘A Chorus line’?” Broadway, regional and summer stock productions galore swam in my head as I sat down and, once again, was transported into the magical world that is this show.

Originally conceived, choreographed and directed by Michael Bennett, “A Chorus Line” won nine Tony Awards (including a special Tony for longest running show), five Drama Desk awards and the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1975— IMHO, rightfully so.
