The lore of laurel
One of the plentiful pink or white flowers you may spot in the wild this time of year, especially in upland forest habitats, is the flower of the mountain laurel. The flowers first appear around late May and last into June. Indeed, many people come from afar to see these attractive bell-shaped flowers, which seem as numerous as stars in the sky in some areas.

Birds and blooms walk
LOOKOUT, PAThe Northeast PA Audubon Society (NEPAS) will hold a Birds and Blooms walk in the Browning Beaver Meadow Sanctuary on Saturday, June 20. Meet at the sanctuary observation deck on Hawley Road near Lookout, PA at 8:00 a.m. and wear waterproof boots and bring binoculars and a camera.

Fishing classic to be held in Hurleyville
HURLEYVILLE, NYThe ninth annual Morningside Fishing Classic, sponsored by the Town of Fallsburg Parks and Recreation Program, the Hurleyville Fire Department and the Loch Sheldrake Fire Department, will be held on Saturday, June 19 at the Morningside Lake. It will start at 5:00 a.m. and end at 1:00 p.m.
