JACOB W. JAKE CHERRY
Jacob W. Jake Cherry of Port Jervis, NY and a lifetime resident of the area, died Sunday, June 13, 2010 at St. Josephs Place, Port Jervis. He was 79.
He was born April 4, 1931 in Port Jervis, the son of the late Edwin P. and the late Jessie Allen Cherry. Jake married Rosemary Tippens 56 years ago on April 3, 1954.
He was a retired foreman and shop steward from Laborers International Union Local 17, Vails Gate, NY. He was a 61-year member of the Port Jervis Fire Dept.; a past captain of Tri-State Hose Company #6; and an active member of the Port Jervis Elks Lodge BPOE No. A family statement reads in part: Jake enjoyed his years of golfing at Rockview Golf Club, as well as fishing. Poppy will be missed and loved by many, especially by his grandchildren, who will never forget his warm gestures of love.
Survivors include his wife at home; son Craig Cherry and wife Teresa of Glen Spey, NY; daughter Tammy Rotolo of Port Jervis; brother Alan Cherry and wife Linda of Matamoras, PA; sisters Kathleen Martin and husband Wally and Joyce Kuen and husband Leo, all of Port Jervis, Elaine Murphy and husband Earl of Cape Vincent, NY, Edith Startup and husband Harry of Scottsville, NY and Phyllis Spiegle of Secaucus, NJ; sisters-in-law Janet and Elise Cherry, both of Port Jervis; grandchildren Cody and Lauren Petry, Ashley Kurtz, Raquel and Lexus Rotolo and Jessica Cherry.
He is predeceased by two brothers, Earl Cherry and Edwin Cherry and one sister, Alice Card.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 17 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis with Rev. Robert Cassidy officiating. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, NY.

GUY AIME DUMAS
Guy Aime Dumas of Callicoon, NY, a retired chief engineer for Irving Trust Bank, died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, PA. He was 85.
The son of the late Robert and Rolande Alice Meau Dumas, he was born January 23, 1925 in Toulouse, France. He was married to Monique DesJardins Dumas.
Mr. Dumas was a former captain of auxiliary police for the NYPD at Staten Island, NY, and a Red Cross CPR instructor.
He is survived by his wife, Monique DesJardins Dumas, at home; son Frank Dumas of Hortonville, NY; grandchildren Phillipe Dumas of the USAF at Little Rock, AK and Marcelle Dumas Oveson of Salt Lake City, UT; two great-grandchildren; sister Annie Avinian; one niece and one nephew, both of France.
There will be no visitation, and services will be at the convenience of the family.

FRED EDWARDS
Fred Edwards passed away on June 3, 2010 at Cox South Hospital, Springfield, MO. He was 74.
He was born October 8, 1935 at Callicoon, NY, to Adna and Hilda (Fries) Edwards.
Fred was married for 39 years to Bonnie (Kelsey). He devoted his life to his family and his career. He worked for RT French for 25 years, then Spice Craft for 11 years, and finally Precision Foods for 10 years. His hobbies were fishing and gardening. He will be missed by all.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Gladys Lasher; and grandson Cory Edwards.
He is survived by his wife; daughter Cindy and husband Kenny Perry; sons Steve and wife Julie Edwards and Shane and wife Haidi Edwards; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Robert, Paul and David; and one sister, Joan Dirie.
Graveside services were held Monday, June 7, 2010 at the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home in Springfield, MO.
JOSEPH F. FISCHER JR
Joseph Frederick Fischer Jr., a computer information technologist of Deltona, FL and formerly of Fosterdale, NY, died Friday, June 4, 2010 in Deltona. He was 38.
The son of the late Joseph Frederick Fischer Sr. and Denise Marie DuBois Fischer, he was born March 11, 1972 in Monticello, NY.
A family statement reads: He loved sports, riding his motorcycle, and installing car stereos.
He is survived by his daughter, Kira Marie Fischer of Longwood, FL; sister Deborah Fischer Sedlack of Smallwood, NY; his fiancé Sandra Daven and her children, Brittani, Breanna, and Michael Daven; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 17 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville, NY.

MARIA KASZUBA
Maria Kaszuba of Glen Spey, NY died Friday, June 11, 2010 at Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. She was 84.
She was born September 26, 1925 in Ukraine, the daughter of the late Nykola and the late Tekla Harbuz Galuga. She was married for 63 years to Mykola Kaszuba, who died June 27, 2009.
Maria was a member of the Cleaning Union at the New York Stock Exchange; and of St. Volodymyrs Ukrainian Catholic Church, Glen Spey, NY.
Survivors include one son, John Kashuba and wife Margaret of Jersey City, NJ; grandchildren Katherine Kashuba and husband Geaorge of Carlstadt, NJ, John Kashuba and wife Tina of Dumont, NJ, and Michael Kashuba and wife Laura of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ; and six great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her son, Walter Kashuba.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 16, with a Liturgy Mass in St. Volodymyrs Ukrainian Catholic Church, Glen Spey, with Rev. Yaroslav Kostyk officiating. Burial was at Glen Spey Cemetery, Glen Spey.
HENRY KORN
Henry Korn of Manhattan, NY died Monday, June 14, 2010 in Eldred, NY. He was 87.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, June 18 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church in Yulan, NY. Father Anthony Moore, OFM, will officiate. Christian burial will follow in the parish cemetery, Eldred.
CHARLES L. SCHOCH
Charles L. Schoch of Port Jervis, NY, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. He was 82.
He was born on February 12, 1928 in Port Jervis, NY, the son of the late Sandaman and Mary Edwards Schoch.
Charles served our country with the U.S. Army during World War II from 1946-1947, as an engineer with the 3013th Engineer Maintenance Co. in Japan.
Charles was a life member of Roosa-Fleming V.F.W. Post 61, Port Jervis, a former fire policeman with the Port Jervis Fire Department, and a life member of Maghogmock Hook and Ladder Co. #1, Port Jervis F.D. He was an active member of the Milford Bible Church, Milford, PA; a retired supervisor of the housekeeping department at Doctors Sunnyside Hospital, Port Jervis, and previously employed by Pry J Dry Cleaners, Port Jervis.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Freer Schoch, at home, with whom he celebrated 59 years of marriage on February 2; children Terri Schoch of Port Jervis, Chuck Schoch and wife Cindy and Jeffrey Schoch and wife Sherie, all of Sparrowbush, Paul Schoch of Barryville and Patti Martell and husband Chad of Glen Spey; former daughter-in-law, Kimberly Harripersad; grandchildren Matthew Schoch and companion Michelle Coleman, Danielle, Joshua, Amanda, Heather, Noah, Eli, Jacob, Adam, Ben Schoch, Alec and Marisa Martell; sister-in-law Helen E. Schoch of Maine; one nephew; and his beloved pet, Winston.
He is predeceased by brothers William, Willard, and Adam Schoch; and sisters Maggie May Schoch and Dorothy Miller.
Memorial services were held Saturday, June 12, at 12:00 noon at the Milford Bible Church, Milford, with Rev. Robert Elliott officiating. Interment followed at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush.
