HONESDALE, PA — The Wayne County Creative Arts Council (WCCAC) has been enlivening the cultural life of Honesdale every summer since 1967 with a series of free events that take place in Central Park. This year, the series starts on Flag Day—Monday, June 14—and appropriately enough, the performance will be all about the American flag, with the history of our red, white and blue told in narrative and music by Doug Smith. It will be followed up on Thursday by a performance by the Church Street Jazz Connection, a group of musicians assembled by Norm Sullivan in response to a request for more gospel music.

Other acts that will be welcome to the park over the summer include the Wayne Chorolaires, country music by Hickory Rose, the Northeasters Barbershop chorus and New Orleans-style jazz by the Indigo Moon Brass Band.

Refreshments will be available at the performances, and though admission is free, a free-will offering will be accepted. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy an evening of music under the stars.
