The Ledges

The view from Jensen Ledges takes in the oxbow bend of the Delaware River near Lordville, NY, and reaches far into the Pennsylvania hills. From high up on the rock ledges you can see the canoeists paddling on the water, the train tracks that parallel the river and the tops of the oaks and pines below.

This past Saturday we could see a red-tailed hawk circling below us as we ate our lunch on the high ledge. Our 4-H club had taken a hike up to this beautiful place which is a local favorite.

June is busting out all over!

Jiminy Cricket! I have problems... Last night, while working away on this very column, we encountered a few hundred lightening strikes and in an instant, all of my work on the computer sizzled, popped and fried, leaving me with nothing to show for my efforts.

All thoughts of the pleasant Memorial Day weekend instantly vanished and panic mode set in quite nicely. With no option other than beginning anew, I awoke to the yearly onslaught of crickets in the house. Every season the cricket invasion occurs (regardless of the nontoxic deterrents in place)—the difference this year is that I have the “I-will-eat-anything-that-moves” puppy from another world.
