Sullivan West Invitational and OCIAA League Championship Meet bring track stars center stage

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY—Call it championship week one: the preliminary salvo to this week’s Section 9 championships, the ensuing state qualifier and the NYSPHSAA Track and Field Championships that loom just weeks ahead. This past week at Sullivan West, the meet dubbed “The Meet of Champions,” so named to describe its awarding of individual winners not teams, took place a day after a rain postponement and was consequently missing the two largest county teams of Liberty and Monticello. Tri-Valley sent only its throwers and a smattering of jumpers and young runners. Here are some of the winners and highlights as Sullivan West hosted Eldred, Livingston Manor, Tri-Valley in part, and Fallsburg.

Golf

Greener pastures

SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY—As Sullivan West’s girls golf team traveled to Kutshers to take on Monticello on May 25, it was already assured of at least a tie for the Division III crown with Fallsburg and Monticello. A win would give them sole possession of the honor they’ve held every year, save one, since the inception of the program.
