JEAN RUTHERFORD LECHNER
Jean Rutherford Lechner of Narrowsburg, NY, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 5, 2010. She was 94.
The daughter of the late Rev. Charles M. Rutherford and Mary Higbie Rutherford, she was born September 12, 1915 in Ontario, Canada, and grew up in Springfield Gardens, LI.
She raised her family in Bayport, LI, and retired to Narrowsburg in 1977 with her husband, the late Russell E. Lechner. They celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary together on June 1, 2009. She was a devoted, loving wife and mother, and an active member of Beach Lake United Methodist Church in Beach Lake, PA.
Survivors include daughters Wendi Jean Pintler and husband Bob Pintler of Narrowsburg and Laurie M. Lechner of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren Jennifer L. Irelan, Robert N. Terry II and Christina G. Terry; three great-grandsons and one step great-granddaughter.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, May 11 at the Beach Lake United Methodist Church, Beach Lake, PA with Rev. Mark Terwilliger officiating.

BETTY E. LOMBARDO
Betty E. Lombardo of Orange City, FL, formerly a longtime resident of Glen Spey and Port Jervis, NY, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2010, at her home. She was 83.
She was born March 20, 1927 in Yulan, NY, the daughter of the late Arthur and Louise Kalin Turner.
Betty was a retired seamstress for Andmore Sportswear, Inc. in Port Jervis. Betty was a former member of the Pond Eddy United Methodist Church, Pond Eddy, NY. She married Charles Lombardo, who survives at home.
In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by her son, Gerard Lombardo of Orange City, FL; sisters Peggy Meyer of Pond Eddy and Norma Ryerson of Odessa, FL; brother William Turners of Raphine, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place at St. Marys Cemetery, Port Jervis, NY.
PATRICIA ZUNIC MANCUSO
Patricia Zunic Mancuso of Hortonville, NY, died Monday, April 26, 2010 at home.
Patricia was the proprietor of Valeries Vintage on Lower Main Street in Callicoon, NY, which will remain open in her memory.
Beloved wife of Thomas Mancuso and devoted mother of Valerie Mancuso, Patricia is also survived by a stepdaughter Morgana; and grandchildren Tristan and Willow. She will be missed by all those who knew her.
The family plans a celebration to honor Patricia on her birthday, July 12, 2010. All dear friends are invited; please inquire within Valeries Vintage, Callicoon.
HAROLD CORWIN JOHNNY MAAS
Harold Corwin Johnny Maas, a lifelong resident of Lake Huntington, NY, passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, May 6, 2010, at Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. He was 83.
The son of the late Henry and Jessie Nearing Maas, he was born in Lake Huntington on July 1, 1926.
He had various careers mostly involved with trucking before taking over the Lake Huntington Garage from Ralph Calkins and building a new garage on Nearing Road in 1972. He worked there along with his son Gary and grandson Michael, and never officially retired. He enjoyed boating and taking his family water skiing on Lake Huntington, and with his wife, Gladys, he traveled across the United States and the world. In recent years he liked camping in local campgrounds with his motor home and going to car shows.
He is survived by sons Gary Maas of Lake Huntington and Thomas Maas and wife Carol of Manchester, CT; grandchildren Michael Maas and wife Mirelle of Narrowsburg, Heldi Maas of Worchester, MA, Jessica Maas of Hartford, Laura Maas of Boston and Julie and Erica Maas of Manchester, CT.
He was predeceased by his wife this past February; and his daughter-in-law, Judy Maas.
A funeral service was held on Monday, May 10 at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 90 Main St., Narrowsburg. Cremation followed at Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, PA.

RICHARD I. NORTH
Richard I. North of Honesdale, PA died Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was 78.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, the former Barbara Pfeuffer Cross. The couple married May 6, 1978.
Born January 28, 1932 in East Hampton, NY, he was the son of the late Raymond and Eursula Baker North. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He worked at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center and later he and his wife owned and operated the former North Country Restaurant on Main Street in Honesdale. Along with cooking, he enjoyed crafts and gardening.
Also surviving are sons Richard R. North and wife Lisa of Shohola, PA and James North and wife Monica of Lumberton, NC; sisters Terri Annese, Linda Hurbaneck and Jeanne Seymour; and dogs Cookie and Muffin.
He is preceded in death by his grandson, Mark North.
As per his request, cremation was held at Maple Hill at Salem Crematory in Archbald, PA.

RAYMOND LESTER SHIELDS
Raymond Lester Shields of Beach Lake, PA died Monday, May 3, 2010 at VA Medical Center in Wilkes Barre, PA. He was 63.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, the former Margaret Michell. The couple married May 3, 1987.
Born August 11, 1946 in Beach Lake, he was the son of the late Joseph and Joyce Rosencranse Shields. Ray was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He was a former truck driver who loved to hunt and fish and especially loved his dog Jack, who was always nearby.
Also surviving are his daughter Denise Shields and fiancée John Vermack of Cortez, PA; step-sons John Knapp and wife Bernadette and Steve Knapp, all of Shohola, PA; granddaughter Madison Shields and two step-grandchildren Katie and Johnny Knapp; sisters Margaret Hamlyn and husband Walt of Curtis Valley, PA, Kathy Mohrmann and husband Doug of Harleysville, PA, Fran Smith and husband Chuck of Big Springs, WV, Pat Gregorski and husband Chick, Anna Gregorski and husband Al, all of Hamlin, PA and Vera Shields of Beach Lake; brother Joe Shields of Rileyville, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his son, Ray William Shields.
As per his request, cremation was held at Maple Hill at Salem Crematory. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at the Beach Lake Free Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m.
