Opera donors invited to concert at Church House
LONG EDDY, NY There will be a Delaware Valley Opera Donors Concert at The Church House, 6655 County Highway 28, on Friday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m. Performing at the concert will be Patricia Johnson, soprano; Anthony Turner, baritone; and Kenneth Hamrick, piano.
The program will include music by Verdi and Puccini, and a forecast of the Lee Hoiby opera to be produced this summer. The concert will take place in the environs of a restored early 20th-century rural church.
Johnson, a soprano of international stature, has performed leading roles with the Opera Orchestra of New York, the New York City Opera and numerous European and American houses. Anthony Turners recent recital with Kenneth Hamrick of works by Barber and Hoiby was called emotionally ruthless and amazing.
In addition to the concert, a silent auction of fine German wines will take place to benefit the DVO. A list of wines may be obtained by emailing mshulgas@dv-opera.org, and winners will be announced at the concert.
