Growing gourmet mushrooms

LIBERTY, NY — There will be a class on growing gourmet mushrooms at home on Saturday, March 27 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County at 64 Ferndale-Loomis Road. The hands-on workshop will discuss how to select and inoculate a log to use for Shitake or Oyster mushroom growing. Proper tree species selection and how to inoculate the log with mushroom spawn, after-care and harvesting will all be covered. Everyone will prepare a log to take home.
