EDWARD J. BOCKER

Edward J. Bocker of Barryville, NY, owner of Barryville Exterminating Services and a longtime resident of the area, died on Wednesday March 3, 2010 at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY. He was 71.

The son of the late Edward R. and Rita Sinram Bocker, he was born October 26, 1938 in Queens, NY.

Edward was a member of St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Yulan, NY. He was a member of Sullivan County Cooperative Extension, PCAC of Long Island, past fire chief of Roxbury, NY Fire Department and a past Lumberland Lion.

A family statement reads, in part: “Edward was a devoted and loving husband and father who enjoyed life and worked hard. He took great pride in his property and was an avid horticulturist. He will greatly be missed.”

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Claudia Sorrentino Bocker; children Charles Von Bocker and wife Christine of Maryland, Tia Bocker of New Jersey, Judy Bocker and Larry McAllister of Bethel, NY, Lee Bocker of Long Island City, NY and Tedd Bocker of Barryville; brothers James and Michael Bocker of South Carolina, William Bocker and wife Jeralynn of upstate New York; sister Patricia Ratz and husband Robert of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday March 8, 2010 at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church in Yulan. Father Anthony Moore O.F.M. officiated. Christian burial will follow at Montoza Cemetery, Barryville.


RICHARD A. CLOUSE

Richard A. Clouse of Lackawaxen, PA, former owner of Clouse Auto Body and a lifelong resident of the area, died on Thursday March 4, 2010. He was 68.

The son of the late August and Catherine Hess Clouse, he was born August 14, 1941 in Callicoon, NY.

Richard was a member of Lackawaxen Volunteer Fire Department and was the past fire chief and fire marshal and a member of several antique car clubs. He used to race, and liked to restore old cars, build models, snowmobiling and camping. He was an avid baseball player and coach. He helped build the Lackawaxen Fire Department building.

A family statement reads, in part: “Edward was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed life and worked hard. He will greatly be missed by family and the community.”

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ruth Trieber Clouse; son Doug Clouse of Lackawaxen, PA; daughter Brenda Cahill and husband John of Greeley, PA; sister Susan Ferris and husband Jeff of Rowland, PA; brothers Robert Clouse of Greeley, Glen Clouse and wife Sharon of Shohola, PA and Charles Clouse and his wife Mary Paige of Yulan; grandchildren Douglas, Catherine, Sally, John, Becky and Nichole; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Richard is predeceased by his son Richard Clouse; and grandson Nicholas Cahill.

A funeral service was held on Monday, March 8 at the Harrison Rasmussen Funeral Home, Barryville. Burial followed at Lackawaxen Cemetery, Lackawaxen.


THOMAS C. HEYBURN

Thomas C. Heyburn of Matamoras, PA, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2010, at Milford Senior Care, Westfall Township, PA. He was 70.

He was born August 14, 1939 in New York City, the son of the late William and Thelma Toomey Heyburn. He married Patricia Kelly Heyburn, who survives at home.

Thomas was a retired floor director for the New York Stock Exchange on Wall Street in New York City. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Matamoras, and a social member of the Tri-State Naval Ship #7241, Port Jervis and Roosa-Fleming VFW Post #161, Port Jervis.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Michael Heyburn of Matamoras, PA; daughters Eileen Heyburn of Matamoras and Lorraine Couturier and husband John of Shohola, PA; brothers Edward and Daniel Heyburn, both of New Jersey; sisters Carol Farrell of Germantown and Jackie Gillfoil of Westchester; grandsons Michael and Christopher; and several nieces and nephews.

Prayers were offered on Tuesday, March 9 at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Matamoras, with The Rev. August Ricciardi as celebrant. Interment took place at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, NY.


LILLY PETTERSON

Lilly Petterson of Jeffersonville, NY passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2010. She was 75.

Lilly was born on New Year’s Eve of December 1934 in New York City to Paul and Mary Barr.

The wife of the late Harry Frank Petterson and the mother of the late Laura Petterson, she is survived by her daughter, April Petterson Olsen; son Ronald Frank Petterson of North Carolina; and grandchildren Alana Olsen-Schultz, Emily Lena Bernthal and Jared Petterson of North Carolina.

A dedicated advocate of those with special needs, Lilly touched many lives through her work in the special education sector. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.


MARGARET E. PICHERT

Margaret “Marge” E. Pichert, a former resident of Glen Spey, NY, passed away Sunday February 28, 2010 in St. Paul, MN. She was 89.

She was born on January 5, 1921 in Glen Spey, the daughter of the late Matthew T. and Elizabeth O’Sullivan Smith.

Marge worked for Machlett Laboratories, Inc., in Springdale, CT and as a beautician in New Cannan, CT. Marge was a member of the Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Pond Eddy, NY.

She married Jerome “Jerry” Pichert, who predeceased her.

She is survived by her son, Jerome Pichert and wife Laurie of St. Paul; grandchildren Alexandra, Mathew and Christian; and a nephew and niece.

She was predeceased by her daughter Cheryl Belmonte; sister Nora Weed; and brother John Smith.

Interment took place Friday March 5, at Glen Spey Cemetery, Glen Spey, NY with Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiating.

Memorial services will be held in the spring at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc., 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY and will be announced at a later date.

Donations may be made to a charity of donor’s choice.


ANNA MARION ROCHE

Anna Marion Roche died at her home in Hortonville, NY on March 1, 2010. She was 100.

Born October 26, 1909 in New York City to Francis and Caroline Weisenbach-Dwyer, she moved with her family to Callicoon, NY as a teenager to help them operate the Franklin Hotel. She married James J. Roche on December 27, 1930.

Marion was the first office manager of Roche’s Garage in Callicoon when she and her late husband started the company in 1931. She was a communicant of Holy Cross Church and a member of its Altar Rosary Society. She was a charter member and former Grand Regent of the Court Father Raphael #1542 Catholic Daughters of the Americas; and a former member of the Sullivan County Cooperative Extension HBs.

She was a devoted mother and homemaker, who loved entertaining family and friends and being with her grandchildren.

Surviving are a daughter, Maureen Knipp of New Windsor, NY; three sons, James and wife Linda, Maurice and wife Marion of Callicoon, and Terrance and Maria of Carthage, NY; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, James J. Roche; brothers, Franklin, George, John and William; and sisters, Helen, Caroline and Mary Irene.

A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Church, Route 97, Callicoon. Fr. Ignatius Smith, OFM, will officiate. Burial will be made in Holy Cross Cemetery, Callicoon.

GAIL L. WOOD

Gail L. Wood of Milanville, PA, a retired auditor for Wayne County and a longtime resident of the area, died on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA. She was 72.

The daughter of the late Raymond M. and Anna White Pedrick, she was born November 16, 1937 in Hoboken, NJ.

Gail was the former president/vice president of the PA Auditors Association. She was involved in the Young Democrats and the Northern Wayne Democrats, and a member of the Democratic Women’s Club. A family statement reads, in part: “Gail was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will greatly be missed.”

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Donald J. Wood, five children, Michael C. Wood and wife Amy of Boyd Mills, PA, Robert F. Wood and wife Nancy of Boyd Mills, Pam J. Bunnell and husband Ronald of Honesdale, PA, Craig A. Wood and companion Michelle of Moscow, PA and Donna G. Ord-jiung and husband Clark of Honesdale; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters Raymond Pedrick Jr. and partner Karin of Warren, MA, David Pedrick and wife Patti of Cumberland, VA, Brenda Eyles of Manchester, NJ, Sharon Herlehey of Honesdale and half-brother Martin Pedrick of San Angelo, TX.

Funeral Services took place privately on Tuesday, March 9 and cremation folllowed at Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, PA.
