PCHS recreates a night out at a speakeasy
MILFORD, PA The Pike County Historical Society (PCHS) will host a speakeasy at the Tom Quick Inn on Friday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m.
The historical society is celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2010 and has chosen a setting for its fundraising event that recalls the Prohibition period of 80 years ago. At that time, Cornelia Pinchot led the charge in her campaign for Congress by touting herself as dry and progressive. The PCHS plans to turn the Tom Quick Inns banquet room into a speakeasy, complete with flappers, period music and a bit of illegal libation.
To gain entry, guests must first be supplied with the secret password. This can be obtained by purchasing a ticket, for a donation of $50. Feel free to wear the dress of the periodand practice your Charleston.
The price of admission covers an Italian buffet, dessert and coffee. Live music, dancing girls, a special performance by Trixie LaRue and games of chance will be provided for entertainment.
Monies raised will go to offset the delay of state funding for general operating support.
