Winter water

The ways in which we experience water, at most times of the year, are fairly predictable. It flows and pools, falls as rain and rises as mist. Water in winter is another matter altogether. Its various forms are endlessly fascinating, mysterious and transformative—as snow softens bleak landscapes and captures evidence of passage, as ice enrobes forest and village, creating fantastical scenes of glittering magic.
