Letters to the Editor

EDITOR'S NOTE: The River Reporter welcomes letters on all subjects from its readers. They must be signed and include the correspondent's phone number. Thanks for the balance

To the editor:

Thank you for the positive article on gas drilling. As a landowner, I share many of the same views as David Jones. Gas drilling if done in a safe, responsible manner will not harm the environment. As landowners, we do not want to see our property damaged or destroyed for the sake of gas, quite the opposite. We want to preserve our land for future generations. Safe gas drilling will give us the financial means to do such. It will help us with our property taxes, and also allow us to improve the land and habitat. It’s also important to note that any profits from gas drilling will have taxes paid on them, something New York State needs desperately. Gas drilling will help our local economy as well. There is a lot of disinformation being spread around about gas drilling, and it is nice to read a well-written article such as yours. I hope that you will write more articles on the benefits of gas drilling in the future.
