Skinners Falls Bridge to reopen within a month
MILANVILLE, PA There are caution signs and orange traffic barrels now blocking the Skinners Falls Bridge. But according to PennDOT, the span should be reopened within a month after repairs are made.
The single-lane bridge, which connects River Road in Millanville with Route 97 in Cochecton, NY, was closed on January 20, after an inspection determined that some of the structures trusses, which date back to 1901, were not safe. The trusses are made of steel, and the deck is made of wood.
The bridge is scheduled for major maintenance in 2015 as part of a program approved in May 2009 intended to address issues at several bridges that cross the Upper Delaware River.
